This is a replacement soft top for the MX-5 produced in Haartz Cabrio Vinyl to exacting standards using CNC cutting technology and comes with heated hard glass, headliner and no zipper. This top does not have has the horseshoe shaped pleat that forms an overlapping quarter around the rear glass like the original. Rather, it does away with this and just has a single piece that wraps around the rear and can therefore be offered at a lower price point. It also still has the internal liner like the original.
We generally stock the original colours offered by Mazda however if you would like something custom made in a different colour or material please get in touch with us and will endeavour to help.
If fitting this top to 1989-97 (NA) model MX-5, a strap kit is required for correct operation. Search SK758.
Allow approximately 6 hours for the installation. While a basic installation guide is included, we do recommend professional installation from one of our authorised installers. That said, many of our customers have installed their own parts and been happy with the result. It depends largely on your patience and level of practical experience.
Formerly specified for over a decade in OEM applications the Cabrio Vinyl is the material favourite choice for the NA and NB MX-5 car owners. With a 2-ply construction comprising of a textured PVC outer face and cotton backing it was used by brands such as Ford, Mazda, Toyota and VW from 1989 to 2005.
The glass used for the window is fully DOT compliant toughened safety glass that meets Australian Standards for automotive use. It is designed for maximum strength but if impacted will break into small safe pieces.
